Norway rats are larger than mice with a blunt nose and tail shorter than the length of its body. Their droppings are dark, blunt, and the size of a raisin. Rats climb, jump, and gnaw and can enter the home through holes the size of a quarter. They can also swim through sewers and enter a building through toilets or broken drains. Rats tend to live outside in underground burrows but may enter the home in search of food and nesting material. They will eat a wide variety of food products and can cause structural damage. They can chew through almost anything. Rats are most active at night.
