IPM is a combination of common sense and scientific principles. It's a way of thinking about pest management that values:
- Using knowledge about the pest's habits, life cycle, needs and dislikes
- Using the least toxic methods first, up to and including pesticides
- Monitoring the pest's activity and adjusting methods over time
- Tolerating harmless pests, and
- Setting a threshold to decide when it's time to act
VR Pest Control is based on a comprehensive Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. The Goal of IPM is to deliver effective pest control while at the same time reducing the volume and toxicity of pesticides used.
IPM consists of the judicious use of both non chemical and chemical control techniques to reduce pest populations to an acceptable level with minimal environmental contamination. The pest management plan is designed to prevent pests and disease vectors from adversely impacting the surrounding environment, while using environmentally sound techniques to safely and effectively control pests and disease carrying vectors and reduce pollution and other risk factors associated with pesticide use.
